This year's fantastic guest artists,
Gemini duo!

Gemini duo are twins Wanxu Zhao and Wanchen Zhao as originally come from China and nowadays live in Copenhagen.   

De studerade accordion vid Shenzhen Art School och senare vid Shanghais musikkonservatorium och från 2019 bestämde de sig för att fortsätta sina studier vid Kongelige Danska Musikakademien under professor Geir Draugsvoll. 

In recent years, the Gemini duo has won several prizes in prestigious international accordion competitions, such as 1st prize at the legendary International Accordion Competition Pif Castelfidardo in Italy (2022), 1st prize at the 46th International Accordion Competition in Pula. And they also won 1. Prize at the Rising Stars Grand Prix in Berlin and 1. Prize at the Manhattan International Music Competition which is for all instruments.

Accordion Festival
for children and young people

On Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28, we offer two days filled with music, joy, ensemble, orchestra, individual lessons and two fantastic concerts. The place is Växhuset in Västerås, Viktor Larsson's place 1. 

Come and experience the Accordionesco Festival with old and new friends.

Practical information

27 – 28 April, 2024

    • Saturday, April 27 sker olika evenemang i Växhuset – orkesterspel, workshops och enskilda lektioner från kl. 09:30 och en stor konsert kl. 19:00 med deltagarna och en hemlig gäst på Västerås Konserthus.
    • Söndagen den 28  april fortsätter påbörjade aktiviteter och hela festivalen avslutas med en stor konsert kl. 14:30 med alla deltagare.
    • Meals: at Café Mosaic
    • Fee for participants: SEK 350 (for meals) if you are a member of the Swedish Association of Accordionists. SEK 500 if you are not a member.

  • Accommodation:  Hotell Esplanade, som har gett ett specialpris för en natt i dubbelrum/singelrum: 695kr och 895kr familjerum. Man får själv boka hotellet (Telefon: +46 21-10 11 20 uppge ”Accordionfestivalen Accordionesco”). Det är begränsat antal rum till detta pris var gärna i god tid. På hotellet finns det många gemensamma utrymmen där musikaliska kvällsaktiviteter kan äga rum.

Guest teachers

Anita Agnas

Anita Agnas is an accordionist and pianist, trained at the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music in Copenhagen under Mogens Ellegaard and Lars Holm. Anita teaches accordionists at the Academy of Music in Stockholm, as well as accompanying and teaching piano at the Music Conservatory in
Falun. Anita has played the accordion in many different contexts and is also the initiator and leader of the Accordion Festival at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm.

Pasi Pasanen

Pasi Pasanen is educated at the College of Music in Ingesund and works as an accordion teacher and music teacher at Sundsta-Älvkullegymnasiet in Karlstad. Pasi is a freelance musician who also plays in various bands, from jazz and folk music to classical and entertainment music. He is frequently hired as a teacher at accordion/accordion courses around Sweden.

Magnus Jonsson

Magnus Jonsson is educated at the University of Music in Malmö and graduated in 2003 with the accordion as his main instrument. His main teacher during the education was Lars Holm. Magnus now works as an accordion and ensemble teacher at Malmö Cultural School. In addition to that, he freelances as a musician in several constellations and genres and as an educator on various courses and camps.

Initiativtagare och grundare

Irina Krjutjkova

Irina Kryutchkova is a prominent musician and educator in classical accordion and piano. Her music education comes from
The Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg and the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. Irina has worked as a teacher for children and young people at several music schools, including Västerås Kulturskola, Gymnasium and Music School Lilla Akademien in Stockholm. Her drive is to encourage more people to explore the possibilities of the accordion and accordion and give more people the chance to play the instruments. Irina has initiated the Accordionesco Festival with the aim of creating an entertaining and memorable musical experience with the accordion as the focus. She is passionate about music and wants to bring joy and unforgettable musical experiences to both participants and audience.
